12" remixes released on Cajual in 1995.
This time in GU-land we are blessed with the vocal talents of Cei-Bei on a track that's spread over four pretty darn hot remixes. The A1 mix has that trademark GU production - the synth line over the crisp yet jumpy percussion that I love so much. The instrumental track on B2 has the spoken title but nae singing.
I much prefer the mixes on the flip - nice wee guitar on B1 makes me feel all summery, just when it's trying to snow outside. It's got that really nice trebley phased sound that kinda comes in and out of tune. I fuckin love it.
THE BOO WILLIAMS MIX FUCKIN' ROCKS - like a lost relative of Preacher Man-era Green Velvet with it's distorted shouty vocals, with Relief-style percussion and some of those "break down a wee bit then come back in on the off-beat" tricks that I love. Worth the download for this mix alone, cheekily sneaked on at the end.
Aye, glad I dug this one out...

Glenn Underground - Do
A great Glenn Underground EP from 1994 on Cajual. Haven't had one of them up for ages.
Just found a shelf there that I hadn't looked at for a while and pulled out this baby. This 12" was supposed to feature his I Feel Love mix, but it got pulled due to legal issues. A few sneaked out though, which you can pick up for a mere £50 quid or so if you feel the need. It turned up on this bootleg later though, of course.
Four great tracks, A1 features a great phased guitar sample, sudden bursts of strings and a great melody of a snatch of vocal sample. Magnificent stuff to start things off. A2's got this brilliant bassline with a guitar riff and twisted continuous synth note that just makes me wanna dance. This was always a favourite GU EP of mine.
Dunno who Rob is/was, but his 'dance' is certainly a winner over on B1. Maybe he was in action down at Genie's night, as featured on the following tune. These tracks have all got a really quick fade on them Maybe Glenn was in a hurry to get down the Disco...
Right that's put me in the mood for some good dancin' tunes. Next post's gonna take the action back to Europe. France, maybe...
*EDIT* just went for a couple of pints while that was uploading. Ain't gonna happen tonight. Cannae wait for BBC4's Krautrock doc on at 9pm then the subsequent Kraftwerk show. Tomorrow = no money = probs a few posts...

Cajmere - Underground Goodies Vol VI
Another 4 Cajmere classics from 1994.
A1 has some skippy percussion noises with some 'party'-style vocal samples thrown into the mix. Track A2 is classic Cajmere - fucked up piano riff, great percussion and a dreamy vocal before a haunting synth comes over the top. Magnificent.
B1 reminds me a bit of this track in style (which I've got somewhere), and ended up getting remixed to fuck afterwards a la Flash.
B2 seems to be a percussion 'version' of Wet Dream from this EP. I wonder if Janus was the person he was having the Wet Dream about.
After my email about yesterday's Fuck Buttons post I think I'll stick to my original remit of only putting up stuff that's out of print. Fuck sake - I was only trying to encourage people to check out a taster for the album, which you would all go out and buy due to the Weatherall connection, wouldn't you...?
*EDIT* --> get the Horny Toad Remix on TechTech2009.

Cajmere - Feelin Kinda High
Strange, I took a wee notion to fire this up today as I was walking home from work, as I'd clocked it yesterday in a pile. Got home to check the email and someone had put a comment on this post asking for this very record. Bizarre...
So - three untitled mixes of the title track, featuring vocals from Terence FM. The A-side mix is fairly strightforward with a repeating bass riff and the vocal hook repeated throughout, but the B-side's where it's at. B1 fucks it all up big style with a completely different bassline that goes all Green Velvety after a bit. B2 is a lot more percussive and dubby, it sounds like it's waiting to break into the crashing drums of 'Flash' but never does. The vocal sneaks in after about 4 minutes and gets phased in and out of the mix. It goes mental towards the end, lots of squelching and tribally percussion.
Anyone for some more Cajmere...?

Cajmere - Underground Goodies Vol 4
Better late than never, especially for the guy who keeps requesting this EP. I'm working through the masses of vinyl in the flat with a view to swapping them with another load, and came across this wee gem again whilst doing so.
As well as the classic "Let Me Be" (already dealt with here), the other three tracks are all winners in their own right. Why the fuck did I not fire up the whole EP last time round? Dunno, but here you go...
A2 has a great kinda detuned piano riff with some great vocals and is everything I adore about Cajmere.
On the flip (South Side), B1 contains the "so simple it's great" vocal hook "tee-dum, diddly um-dum" repeated throughout, over various percussive noises. B2 is a lot more like how he introduced Green Velvet with the noises a bit harder this time. I remember being really shocked when I first heard the Preacher Man 12" but when you compare it back to stuff like this (from 1992) it kinda makes sense...

GU - Essentials II
Another fine EP of Essentials from Mr Underground, this time from 1996. Maybe not quite as strong as Vol 1 but still worth a pop if you ask me.
Lots of disco-y house here, in fact my girlfriend has just said "what's that pish? That sounds like the stuff you'd hear coming from a cafe down the beach in Ibiza", as track A2 came to an end. See what I've got to put up with? Tsk tsk...
Lazy bastard couldn't even be bothered to come up with a title for track B2, so I can't be bothered with a description. Saturday hangover and all that...

Donna Summer / DJ Sneak - I Feel Love (GU Mix) / Ezeckiel 25 17
Ah, the magic of the internet...
I used to fuckin love playing this 12" until one day I lent it to a guy I vaguely knew and never saw it (or him) again. It was in Paisley though, so it probably serves me right. A couple of comments on the various GU tracks I've fired up have referred to this I Feel Love mix which got me itching to hear it again. Speedy service or what - only enquired about it on Discogs on Friday and just got home from work to find it sitting here on my doorstep (recorded delivery means a long walk there and back so took the chance, cheers postie).
The A-side was originally supposed to be on a Donna Summer remix project but her 'people' didn't dig the GU mix so Cajual sneaked it out on a white label. It's a FAB remix that uses Moroder's 'Chase' track with Donna Summer's vocal. The Pulp Fiction sample on the flip sounds a bit dated now as you'd expect but it's still a no bad wee tune.

Cajmere featuring Derrick Carter - Dreaming EP
Pulled this Cajmere 12" out as well as that last one and it's much better so here you go. Only came out a year after Keep Movin' and he's come on leaps and bounds with his production. Two uploads by the same act on the same day - whatever next?? Had forgotten how many of the buggers I had...
Breathy, dreamy, trippy as hell with bonkers vocals, the A-side mixes used to go down very nicely back in the snowball days. Fab percussion right across this EP as well.
B1 was a favourite at the notorious Pussypower nights in Glasgow, with it's charming "I ain't fucked all week" refrain. Around this time, I hadn't managed to procure yer actual Percolator 12" and thought (like the track on the post below) that I was onto it here with track B2 but it wasn't to be. Got it eventually though, once I find it I'll fire it up...

Cajmere - Only 4 U
A great Cajmere 12" from 1996 featuring five mixes on the regular release (I didn't get the additional four mixes that followed). For once, all of them are pretty darn good - no need to miss any off the rip as I had to with the hit'n'miss Dajae EPs from earlier on.
You'll probably go straight for the Green Velvet mix as I did when I first got it, but each of the others has a time and a place for an airing.
As you can see, another hideous sleeve from Cajmere - why didn't he just stick to the good old Cajual regulation white plain sleeve with 'stripey dancing lady' logo on the label? I was going to get a tattoo of that at one point, in hindsight, aye, haven't ruled it out...
